Redefining the future of mobility through AI, hybrid innovation, and open-source collaboration
Chery, one of China’s most forward-looking automotive brands, has reasserted its technological leadership and global ambitions with a bold showcase at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, the Chery Global Business Conference, and its Hybrid Night & Open-Source Initiative Launch. The series of announcements made it clear: Chery is not just building cars—it is engineering the future of smart, sustainable, and connected mobility.
HIMLA Series: Smart Engineering Meets Rugged Innovation
Leading the spotlight was the world premiere of the HIMLA pickup series, Chery’s first global lineup of pickups. Engineered with 28 years of technical expertise and designed to address evolving user demands, HIMLA targets four key automotive megatrends: passenger-centric comfort, advanced intelligence, premium performance, and new energy options.
Available in gasoline, diesel, and full-electric variants, HIMLA stands out with features such as intelligent driver-assistance systems (ADAS), battery safety management, and connectivity-first architecture. Chery has also built these pickups to meet the “Global Five-Star Safety Standard,” aligning global safety compliance with next-gen smart tech integration.
Chery Super Hybrid (CSH): A Leap in Hybrid Engineering
At the core of Chery’s innovation push is the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) platform, unveiled in the latest TIGGO 7, 8, and 9 models. Powered by the company’s proprietary “4H1S” architecture (High Efficiency, High Performance, High Intelligence, High Safety + Strong Off-Road Capability), CSH represents a breakthrough in hybrid powertrain technology.
The headline numbers? A 46.5% thermal efficiency hybrid engine, DHT230/280 dual-motor transmissions, and an industry-leading 1,400 km driving range. This innovation doesn’t just improve efficiency; it redefines how hybrid systems can perform in long-distance, real-world conditions.
Chery also revealed the world’s first hybrid engine to cross 48% thermal efficiency, a landmark achievement that positions the brand at the cutting edge of green automotive engineering.
CSH Open-Source Initiative: Pioneering Tech Ecosystems
In a bold move that challenges traditional OEM secrecy, Chery launched the CSH Open-Source Initiative—an industry-first project that makes key hybrid patents accessible to developers, partners, and startups around the world.
Built in collaboration with CATARC, the initiative introduces the “Chery Global Hybrid Technology Standard Declaration”, inviting global stakeholders to co-develop open standards for hybrid systems. This marks a shift from product-based competition to ecosystem-based collaboration, echoing open-source philosophies seen in tech sectors like software and AI.
Boundless Living: Redefining Lifestyle Mobility
Chery’s tech vision extends beyond powertrains into lifestyle integration. Through the “Boundless Living” initiative, Chery is transforming how families interact with vehicles. Showcased through immersive in-car environments such as mobile workshops, pet-ready cabins, and V2L-powered camping zones, the concept highlights innovations in vehicle-to-load (V2L) power management, interior modularity, and smart interface design.
The TIGGO 8’s 1,930L cargo space, and cinema-equipped TIGGO 7, underscore how mobility is evolving from point-to-point travel into an integrated lifestyle platform.
AiMOGA Robot: AI-Powered Automotive Assistants
Taking smart service to the next level, Chery introduced the AiMOGA humanoid robot, which has now transitioned from digital avatar “Mornine” to an AI-powered in-dealership assistant in Malaysia. This intelligent robot, powered by CheryGPT and DeepSeek AI, offers autonomous vehicle walkthroughs, multilingual customer service, and in-dealer navigation—bridging the gap between AI-driven virtual assistants and real-world applications in the automotive retail space.
CHERY FAMILY CARE: Service Innovation for a Global Market
With CHERY FAMILY CARE, the company introduced a new global customer experience platform combining 24/7 support, remote diagnostics, and transparent pricing—supported by an international training and service network. This signals a move from hardware-focused innovation to holistic, lifecycle-centered service design.
The dual-pillar approach—“Five Heartwarming Cares” and “Five Worry-Free Cares”—aims to humanize automotive ownership through digital service layers and user-friendly interface technologies.

Chery’s Technological Roadmap: What’s Next?
In 2025 alone, Chery is set to launch 19 hybrid models across HEV, PHEV, and REEV categories, backed by a growing network of global R&D centers and over 16 million users worldwide. The brand’s rallying theme, “Navigating the Future,” is more than a slogan—it’s a call to reimagine what the car of tomorrow can be.
“Chery is not just building vehicles. We are redefining lifestyles,” said Zhu Shaodong, Executive VP of Chery International. “Through technological breakthroughs and global partnerships, we are making premium mobility more accessible, sustainable, and intelligent.”
In the UAE, this vision is poised to materialize with full force. Zaher Sabagh, Director of Chery UAE, noted:
“We are bringing these innovations to the region in collaboration with AW Rostamani, opening a new chapter for the UAE’s automotive landscape. With sky-high ambitions and a commitment to innovation, Chery will revolutionize the driving journey.”
