Electric air taxis are set to take flight in Dubai by the first quarter of 2026, according to the city’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). These futuristic vehicles, designed to carry a pilot and four passengers at speeds of up to 320 kph, will operate from four key locations: Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Downtown Dubai.
With the ability to travel from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah in just 10-12 minutes—compared to the 45-minute car journey—these air taxis promise a faster, more efficient way to navigate the city, as reported by state news agency Wam.
Not only will these electric air taxis offer speed, but they will also be significantly quieter than traditional helicopters, producing just 45 decibels—quieter than the sound of light rain.
The new vertiports will be developed in collaboration with Skyports, an air mobility infrastructure company, and will include designated take-off and landing zones, electric charging stations, and passenger facilities.
