Dr. Majid Al Fayyad, CEO of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC), announced, “Following our success in performing the world’s first fully robotic heart transplant, we are now aiming to expand robotic surgery across all our operating rooms, with the hope that it becomes the preferred option in the future.”
This statement was made during a panel discussion on healthcare innovation at the Global Health Exhibition (GHE) that began this morning in Riyadh.
Dr. Al Fayyad emphasized that the advancement of robotic surgery is the result of extensive preparation, which included equipping operating rooms with cutting-edge technology and thoroughly training staff. He highlighted the importance of balancing bold innovation with stringent safety measures to ensure results that enhance patient safety.
He also noted that KFSHRC is actively working to integrate the latest artificial intelligence applications into its medical practices to improve accuracy and efficiency, pushing the boundaries of innovation in healthcare and enabling the sharing of these experiences globally.
Notably, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center has been ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 20th globally among the top 250 academic healthcare institutions for the second consecutive year.
