At GITEX 2025, Huawei unveiled the innovative Wheelchair Mode for the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series, highlighting its commitment to inclusive smart-health technology. Inspired by a suggestion from H.E. Majid Rashed, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, this feature will roll out globally via a software update in early November, with its official consumer launch coinciding with Dubai Ride.

Revolutionizing Fitness Tracking for Wheelchair Users
Wheelchair Mode is designed to transform how wheelchair users monitor activity and health. Using inertial measurement units (IMUs), push-detection algorithms, and wheel rotation sensors, the watch tracks push frequency, speed, force, and distance. Coupled with HUAWEI TruSense System—which offers continuous heart-rate monitoring, SpO₂ tracking, calorie estimation, and pressure/torque sensing—the mode delivers a comprehensive wellness profile tailored to wheelchair propulsion.
H.E. Majid Rashed praised the development, saying:
“Huawei not only listened to the idea of a wheelchair mode but acted with determination. This feature empowers people of determination and ensures technology serves everyone equally.”
With over 80 million wheelchair users worldwide, Wheelchair Mode is more than a fitness tool—it supports health monitoring, injury prevention, personal empowerment, and safety.
Huawei’s Vision for Inclusive Innovation
Bruce Li, Country Manager UAE, Huawei CBG, emphasized:
“Technology should empower everyone. Our commitment to people of determination drives us to develop innovations that make daily life smarter, healthier, and more connected. Wheelchair Mode embodies our belief in inclusive innovation.”
